Training

Our philosophy at Footloose Farm is that training is a never-ending process. Katie will take horses in for ground work training, breaking to saddle using dressage basics from the beginning, tune-up's for trail or show and dressage or basic jumping training.  She specializes in "finishing" horses, which includes preparing a horse for the show ring, establishing basics beyond "breaking" a horse, and developing an all-around "bomb-proof" horse for show or trail.

Katie will help riders and their equine partners with improving basics or achieve more advanced balance, collection, harmony, refinement in gaits and transitions and help a rider take the next step to improve their own biomechanics and bilateral ability.

Katie is currently riding her horse at 4th level dressage and working towards achieving her USDF silver medal. Katie has experience in developing and working with horses that need special training programs due to muscle weakness or just lack of maturity. She has taken lessons and trained her own horses from the beginning and has ridden and worked with many breeds, including drafts, Friesians, QH's, appaloosas, Arabians, Morgans and ponies.

Dressage basics are incorporated into Katie's training program; however, much can be applied to all disciplines and her training program is very flexible and can easily fit each rider and horse's individual needs. Please call to meet Katie and discuss your own individual plan.
